went out today to do a charter. I have to say.... the day was absolutely perfect! We left matheson at 6:30am and headed south to chicken key. No wind, no waves and no clouds. I landed around 15 mangrove snappers (legal size and barely) all released. and jumped a tarpon of a good 60 pounds. Fought him for 45 minutes on my micro reel and my 5' light tackle ugly stick. Until he wrapped around a mangrove and cut my line. I was so pissed! so, we got out of the water at 2pm which was perfect timing cause at 3pm it started pouring! if any of you guys are going out tomorow sunday for spearfishing, let me know. I'm in

sounds sick buddy.
great day for fishing on sat
Do you always release everything you catch rod and reel or how do you handle that?

sorry I missed this post yesterday, I would have loved to go hunt some fish. I couldn't find anyone to dive and just skipped it...we should make some plans for this weekend if the skies will allow it

PostSubject: catch and release.   Mon Oct 13, 2008 4:21 pm

I release most of the times. It all really depends on what I catch. If it's a snook; it's going to my cooler. in order for me to keep it, must be a nice big size fish. Since I spear, that's when I take fish home and load up my freezer.

This weekend I'm in. as long as it's after 10-11am. I have to drop off my wife at the airport so after that.... non-stop spearfishing for sat and sunday. Is there a underwater stripjoint? cheers

let me know. I'm in weathe permiting

Nice report. The weather has seemed to improve lately. Figues that the month I have a bunch of plans with family and friends is the month with the best weather so far. I'll be out of town this upcoming weekend. But I'll be free the following Saturday and the weekend of Halloween. Also, I'm looking to put together a camping trip the weekend of Thanksgiving. Anyone interested please let me know.

youdon...here is my proposition....
you know where the half moon wreck is off Key Biscayne?

let's dive that on sat (we can do two yaks or one, in the tandem) and if we still want to we'll dive out of somewhere off the south tip of the key, and paddle out to the reef on sun.

sound good?

I am dying for a nice fish cook

is that the one out of bear cut? between virginia beach and crandon? I just don't know its exact location. I'll go. Are we freediving or using tanks? whatever we do on sunday, it has to be after 10am. I need to drop off my wife at ft. laud airport in the morning.
